In the winter the humidity has dropped and the air is so much drier not to mention the use of indoor heaters going that will dry us out. Do you find as hard to drink water when it’s cold outside? If you are suffering from a dry mouth, chapped lips or even a headache, you may be dehydrated. I’ve totally been there! I have struggled with keeping my body hydrated at times. I would wait until I was thirsty before taking a drink. I learned that by that time, your body is already feeling the affects of dehydration. So I need to drink more WATER!
But what are really the benefits to drinking more water? Here are 4 reasons that I have discovered.
1. Energy
Do you ever have daytime fatigue? Yep, that’s from being dehydrated. Our bodily functions slow down when we don’t have enough water This reason to drink more water will help you feel better during the cloudy, dreary days this winter.
2. Clearer Skin
Skin that is dull or has a scaly look is a sign of dehydrated skin especially during the winter months due to the weather. Drinking more water will help hydrate your body and prevent breaking out or skin irritations. When we don’t drink enough water those toxins build and need a way to escape, like through your pores. So drink more water for healthier looking skin.
3. Better Digestion
By consuming enough water every day our bodies can more easily digest the foods we eat and maintain your weight. This is especially true during the winter months when we tend to put on a few unwanted pounds.
Many times we think we are hungry when it’s hydration we need. If you find you are hungry shortly after eating try having a tall glass of water before reaching for that snack.
To drink more water, try adding lemons, cucumbers, blueberries or strawberries to your water to give it some flavor. Limes are one of my all time favorite. There are so many different ideas you can try.
